Show Kent Abel Has Served as Business Officials Pres. Mr. Kent Abel, Assistant Assis-tant Superintendent in Alpine School Distirct, has been serving as President of the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) which covers all of the United States and Canada. During the week of October 12-19, Kent along with his wife Reta, will preside over the National ASBO Convention held in Denver, Colorado. During the past year Mr. Abel has given keynote addresses at various state conventions conven-tions throughout the United States. In addition addi-tion to conducting workshops for the training of schools business officials. One of the fascinating features of each convention, conven-tion, according to Mr. Abel, is the informal round table discussions. discus-sions. These activities allow business officials to learn from the experience ex-perience of others. Serving with Kent as official hostess for the convention is Kent's wife, Reta. She is responsible for all guest programs, socials, before and after convention con-vention tours and as a special feature this year has added an educational educa-tional program in computer com-puter concepts. Mr. Abel graduated from BYU in 1956 and began his teaching career at Orem High School teaching business education. He completed his Masters Degree at BYU and was appointed Assistant Assis-tant Superintendent in 1970. It is very unique to have someone elected to serve on a National level from a small state such as Utah. The larger states have usually dominated however, with Kents knowledge of school business combined with experience and leadership leader-ship he has represented Utah very well. Alpine School District and its patrons can be very proud of one of their own local products serving ser-ving as National President Presi-dent of the Association of School Business Officials. |
