Show CLOSED TO OFF-ROADERS Gary Coleman points to sign which will notify off road vehicle drivers that certain roads are closed. Restrictions on Off -Road Traffic to Be Imposed Gary Coleman, Recreation Staff Officer, Uinta National Forest, stated today that off road vehcile restrictions will be implemented this weekend on several trails along the Wasatch Front. In accordance with the Uinta National Forest Travel Plan, the following trails will be signed and closed to all motor vehicle use yearlong: Grove Creek, Battle Creek, and Dry Canyon east of Pleasant Grove. Rock Canyon, Slide Canyon (including (in-cluding the block Y road), Slate Canyon, and the road above the clay pits to the Squaw Peak Road east of Orem and Prove These motor vehicle travel restrictions restric-tions are necessary to prevent wildlife disturbance, soil and vegetation damage, recreation use conflicts, and to promote public safety. Mr. Coleman stated that Forest Service and local government officials are working together to solve the difficult management problems associated with ORV activity ac-tivity on the foothills. He said a similar restriction area has already been implemented by the Hebert Ranger District just west of Strawberry Reservoir. Signs are posted at the entrance to each area. ORV users should take note of these closures and act accordingly. accor-dingly. Violators will be prosecuted. Mr. Coleman said ORV users are responding well to the Travel plan. Some motor vehicle violations have occurred in the Lone Peak Wilderness, Wilder-ness, but generally the vehicle restrictions are being received cooperatively. Copies of the Uinta National Forest Travel Plan are available to the public at each of the Forest offices. |
