Show Payson Edges Vikings in Opening Baseball Game Payson edged host Pleasant Grove, 8-5, in the Region Six opening baseball game for each team last Thursday. The Vikings out hit the Lions but a big fifth inning that had Payson scoring four runs made the difference. Sophomore Mark Atwood hit a solo home run that bounced off of Armisteads cinder block building in the bottom of the fifth. The traditional PG - AF rivalry will be renewed today at 3:00 pm when the Vikings travel to American Fork. In two non-league games played on Monday, PG came out on top twice over Gran-tsville. Gran-tsville. In the first game of the double header, The Vikes struggled to force it into ex- tra innings and then exploded foi eight runs in the top of the eleventh to win 11-3. ; In a shortened second game, five innings, PG won 5-3. |
