BUILDING PERMITS FOR OCTOBER AND NOVEM-BER, 1877 IN P.G. CITY. Building permits in Pleasant Grove City moved along at a fairly slow pace in October but picked up again in November, as the year draws to a close. According to Rick Clark, city inspector, October had only just over a quarter million ($254,152) in permits issued, and this was from 13 permits issued. There were seven single family dwelling permits which made up most of the total. These ranged from "round $25,000 to $51,000 for these houses. According to today's price schedule, the $25,000 single family house must be for newlyweds. November really picked up with 32 permits being issued, with 24 single family units getting permits. There were no commercial permits issued either month, and the balance of the permits issued were either for additions or remodeling. Krukiewicz Const, took out 14 of the single family per-mits, and these were all in the same area, the addresses being on No. Murdock, wherever that is. I think it is around 900 North, as two of the permits were listed on 930 North. The total of the permits for November by the way was $924,680, which is nearly a million dollars. You could have bought all of Pleasant Grove for that figure several years ago. Oh well, as Will Rogers said in his column in the late 1920's, we all talk about the good old days, but not many of us would go back and live it again. We are too wrapped up in our inflationary ways and maybe even enjoying it. |
