Show Solid Waste Plan to Make Some Changes Pleasant Grove City officials offic-ials report that the newly created solid waste special service district will make several changes in the present solid waste disposal program. It is noted that Pleasant Grove has requested membership mem-bership in the district and approval of this request is anticipated. The district has decided that the present Lindon dump site will be discontinued. discon-tinued. There are two main reasons for the discontinuance discontinuan-ce of this site, these being environmental en-vironmental problems and lack of space for further dumping. The district has indicated that they plan to locate the county dump at Springville and all cities in the county will take their garbage to this location. The district had proposed to operate two landfill sites, one in the north part of the county and one in the south, but after a revidew of costs it was determined to operate only one site. It is noted that there will be several changes when the district takes over the handling hand-ling of solid waste. The costs will increase because in the past the county has operated the land fill and has subsidized sub-sidized the operation. Hauling tree limbs and trimmings trim-mings and other larger items may require a longer distance to travel. More information on the new operation will be given to the city residents as it becomes available. |
