Show Funeral Rites for Raymond E. Nelson Held on Monday Funeral servic es were held Monday, Oct. 18, 1976 for E. Raymond Nelson, 88, who died Thursday, Oct. 14, of causes incident to age. The services were held in the Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, under the direction of Bishop Larry Blackhurst of the Pleasant Grove 12th Ward. Speakers at the services were Bishop Lloyd K. Ash, Donna Ash Brock, and remarks were given by Bishop Larry K. Blackhurst. Bishop Blackhurst also read a tribute to Mr. Nelson. Prayers were given by Hyrum Bradley, Bert Ostler, Patriarch Lewis J. Harmer, and the grave in the Lehi City Cemetery was dedicated by Elvin Thome. Musical numers were given by a group of ladies from the Chauntenettes Chorus, Ar-thella Ar-thella Dearing, Beth Noel, Louise Gordon, Marilyn Cowley, Avilda Snyder, Maurine Madsen, Bette Johnson, Nina Johnson and Erlene Lott, directed by Helen Weeks and accompanied accom-panied by Pauline Hills, and Helen Weeks sang a vocal solo, accompanied by Pauline Hills. Jeanne Walker and JoAnne Brady sang a vocal number, accompanied by Sandra Walker. Pallbearers were Scott, Guy and Kirk Bradley, Robert Manson, Wayne, Leland, Karl and Dennis Nelson. Mr. Nelson was born Aug 30, 1888 in Pleasant Grove to Ferdinand and Mary Mayhew Nelson. He married Anna C. Hansen on July 12, 1910 in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He had worked as a carpenter carpen-ter since he was 16 years old and built many homes in the Pleasant Grove and Utah County areas. He was an elder in the Pleasant Grove 12th Ward. He also was on eo the original volunteer firemen in the Pleasant Grove area. He is survived by his widow, one sone and one daughter, Howard R. Nelson, Orem; Mrs. Hyrum (Dorthy Ann) Bradley, Littleton, Colo; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. |
