Show Orem Drubs Vikings 27-0 Last Friday by Jack Hill Orem High's Tigers turned a first minute fumble recovery into a quick score, took control con-trol of the game and soundly trounced visiting Pleasant Grove 27-0. An opening game kickoff fumble recovery put Orem on the Viking 20 yard line. Orem's first play, a "throw back" to QB Ken Carlson, was good for a 20 yard touchdown. Carlson pitched to his tailback who headed around the right end only to pull up and "throw back" left to the wide open Carlson. The point after was good, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead with just 42 seconds gone in the game Pleasant Grove was forced to punt and with 4:54 to play in the first quarter, Carlson hit split end Randy Peck with a "strike" and a 40 yard score. A trapped punter put P.G. inside Orem's 20 but four plays lost 10 yards to kill the Vikings only real first half threat. Two minutes into the final period, Carlson again hit Peck. This time the pass covered nine yards for the T.D. The point after boosted the Tiger total to 20. Chad Robbins added the final score on a one-yard plunge for Orem. Orem successfully protected protec-ted their passer, while P.G. did not. That was the game. P.G. travels to Westminster College 17th South and 13th East in Salt Lake City tomorrow to play Judge Memorial. Game time is 3:30 p.m. |
