V I t t : X -- , CLYDE HUNTSMAN Team winner, Central High of Grand Junction Colorado, ' was very impressive. Centrals ( L. Gordon and P.G's Craig Walker, both state champions, battled to a 4-- 4 draw in regulation, then fought to a 3- - I 3 tie in overtime. According . to wrestling rules, a seven step criteria was followed to break the tie and Gordon I came out the winner. For his i efforts he was named the outstanding wrestler or the tournament. Facing Spanish Fork, upset winners on Thursday over Springville, P.G. raced to a 71-4- 3 win for the tourney championship Saturday night. Gary Jackson clamped a press on the Don guards, causing turnovers and destroying their offensive patterns. While Jackson was at work on the "D", Tom Strasburg was controling the offensive boards and scoring 20 points in the first half. LAYNE Butt hit for 11 points in the third period to give P.G. a 33 point lead to start the final period. Bret Frampton, probably the most consistent Viking over the three days, scored in Play for Real Tomorow, Region Six play begins with P.G. at Uintah. The Utes, second place finishers a year ago, are of unknown quality. Coach George Hughes lost his star-ters to graduation and had a poor sophomore team. However the Utes beat Tooele last week, one of Region Fives preseason favorites. P.G. has been heavily scouted by Art Hughes, Georges father, and the Utes will be ready.
