Roughoufs Sponsoring Dance and Drawing The Roughout Riding Club is sponsoring a Western Dance Friday, December 13th at the Apollo Hall in American Fork, Utah starting at 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $2.00 per couple. The music will be provided by the SunDowners. A beautiful quilt will be gi-ve away with tickets being sold by the club members of at the door the night of the dance. This quilt would make a beau-tiful gift for Christmas. Tickets will be 25 cent a piece or 5 for $1.00. Rites for Samuel J. Green Held Wednesday Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove First Ward Chapel, for Samuel J. Green, 50, of Midvale, who died in a Salt Lake City Hospital Mon-day after a long illness. The services were under the direction of Bishop Paul D. Hyer of the Union Third Ward. Speakers at the services were Bishop Glade C. Hilton, Bishop Harley M. Gillman, and Bishop Hyer also offered re-marks. A life sketch was given by Colleen Cordner. Vocal numbers were given by Jeanne Walker and JoAnne Brady, William E. Petersen and by Mary Louise Hook, all ac-companied by Beverly Christ-eson.- - Prayers were given by David A. Green, Lamond C. Lang-sto-and President K. Holley Myers. The grave in the Amer-ican Fork City Cemetery was dedicated by Grant Palfreymait. Military rites at the grave were conducted by the Pleas-ant Grove American Legion. Pallbearers were Gill Hilton, Merril Langston, David Hilton, Kaylon Whiteley, Reed Lang-ston and Quinn Gillman. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Lee, Willis Spafford, Don Stubbs, Ace Avery, Errol Whit-ing and William James Ferg-uson. He was born Dec. 17, 1923 in Pleasant Grove to Willam Lew-is and Myrtle Ivey Adamson. He married Norma Dorothy Laneton on Julv 22. 1950. He attended Pleasant Grove school and several colleges while serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Green worked for the Weber Job Corps Center in Ogden for several years. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his widow; one son and one daughter Randal Gree and Linda Green, both of Midvale; one brother and five sisters, David Green, American Fork; Mrs. Grant (Elizabeth) Palfreyman, Spring-ville- ; Mrs. Holly K. (Wilma) Myers, Pocatello, Ida.; Mrs. Harley (Mary) Gillman, Orem; Mrs. Shyrlan (Kathleen) White-le- y, and Mrs. Glade (Myrtle) Hilton, both of Pleasant Grove. Funeral Services Held Saturday for R. P. 'Dick' Harris Funeral services were held last Saturday, Dec. 7, 1974 for Richard P. "Dick" Harris, 53, who died last Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City following a long illness. The services, under the di-rection of Bishop Gordon K. Allred of the First Ward, were held in the PL Grove Stake Center at 1:00 p.m. Speaker at the services was Joseph H. Beveridge, and Bish-op Allred also gave remarks. Vocal numbers were given by Jeanne Walker and JoAnne Brady, and by William E. Pet-ersen, both accompanied by Judy Allred. Prayers were given by Rus-sell T. Green, Gene A. and Robert Sutch, and the grave, in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, was ded-icated by LaRaine McGee. Pallbearers were Richard B. Harris, Charles Harris, Russell Green, Craig J. Harris, Nyle Green and Vance Green. "Dick" Harris, was bom on March 3, 1921 in San Diego, California to John and Anna Lakenau Harris. He married Louise Green on Oct. 5, 1942 in Evanston, Wyoming. He was a construction con-tractor and had served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. Survivors include his widow, two sons and one daughter, Richard B. Harris, Craig J. Har-ris and Mrs. Leane Roberts, all of PI. Grove; four grand-children, and two brothers, Jack Harris, Shafter, Calif., and Charles Harris, Bakersfield, Calif. Slow Break Games Going Into 3rd Round Next Week In Slow break basketball the Schoonover team is currently 2-- 0 and Kasco and Ekins have also won 2 and lost 0 to tie the league up for first place. In games last week Doug's TV won over P.G. Lumber 38 to 25, Norm Ekins team got 36 to 22 for Lee Wmrner, and Paul Schoonover won 45 to 39 over Frank Mills. Kasco Mfg. won over Car-ter's Service in a close game, 44 to 43. Pack's team has a 0 record and Carters and Doug's TV cur-rently are Mills, P.G. Lumber and Wim-me- r are 0-- 0-- 2 and 0-- 2 to bring up the bottom of the league. Next week Mills will play Ekins, Packs will go against Kasco, Carters vs. P.G. Lum-ber and Wimmer against Doug TV. games as listed are 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. The teams will then lay off for the holidays until Jan. 7. |
