Show State Economic Development Conference Honors UV1DA Each year, the State of Utah holds its annual State Economic Eco-nomic Development Conference sponsored by the Utah Industrial Indus-trial Promotion Division and the Utah Department of Employment Em-ployment Security. The conference, held yesterday, yester-day, Aug. 14 gave Utah County Coun-ty and Utah Valley Industrial Development Association (UV-IDA) (UV-IDA) an award for "Outstanding "Outstand-ing Cooperative Effort in Economic Eco-nomic Development in the State of Utah." The award was presented by Gov. Calvin L. Rampton in behalf of the Utah Association of County Governments. In presenting the award on Wednesday, Governor Ramp-said, Ramp-said, "The founders of the Utah Valley Industrial Development Association dedicated themselves them-selves to the concept of cooperation coop-eration in order to achieve the unity they felt was vital to the stability of all Utah Valley communiteis in promoitng Industrial In-dustrial Development. "Anxious to provide more jobs and greater diversification of job opportunities to the young people in the Valley, those men, and many others, who have joined with them over ov-er the years, have sought to maintain a strong, unified effort ef-fort in order to achieve the goals of indusrtial development "While the award we present pre-sent today officially recognizes their dedication, hard work and cooperation, and will be presented presen-ted to honored leaders now in office, we must remember that the spirit of the award must also extend to those who have worked through the years to achieve and maintain that unity. un-ity. "This means that we honor today the Utah County Commission Com-mission for providing the base from which UVIDA's 12-point program can properly function. We honor mayors and council-men council-men from the cities in Utah County for their support of the UVIDA program in providing provid-ing financial backing and setting set-ting aside space for industrial parks where possible, and in most cases actually working with and welcoming the pros-ppective pros-ppective occupants into Utah Valley.
