Cont Jones, local resident, met with the council to obtain tentative approval for a subdivision sub-division located east of 1000 east, north and south of center street. Because the area is relatively rela-tively undeveloped no sewer line presently serves the area. Mr. Jones requested that the city consider running the sewer to this area and stated that if the sewer was installed, this area of town could be developed develop-ed for homes. The problem of financing the cost of the sewer line for the distance necessary to connect the proposed subdivision sub-division was discussed and the council felt that it will be some time before the city can afford to install this line. Alroy Gillman, representing the Plesaant Grove Irrigation Company, met with te council to discuss the problems that can arise from building near irrigation ditches. Mr. Gillman suggested that an ordinance be pased to prohibit constructing a home or building within 12 feet of an irrigation ditch. Mr. Gilman also requested that the policy of requiring 15 inch pipe to be used when an irrigation ditch is covered and requiring a 3 inch arch on any covered ditch be established. The council coun-cil instructed the city recorder to contact the attorney and have these requests drawn up in the form of an ordinance. Mr. and Mrs. Al Moiling, owners of Troy's Tub laundra-mat laundra-mat met with the council to request re-quest that they be allowed to have in their place of business a number of amusement devices. devic-es. The council felt that since there is a stipuation in the ordinance ord-inance that requires a license to be paid for each amusement machine that if Mr. Moiling would be willing to pay this license that he could have the machines in his place of business. busi-ness. Darrell Cook of the Moun-tainlands Moun-tainlands Association of Governments Gov-ernments met with the council to present the new manpower programs being offered through the federal government. Mr. Cook explained that the com-presensive com-presensive Manpower Pilot (C.M.P.) program is designed to assist employment seeking individuals in-dividuals obtain positions with local governments. To help the local government to hire new people this program pays 50 per cent of the employees wages and benefits. Mr. Cook stated that he has positions remaining re-maining to be filled and asked the city if they would review the budget and also check in the various departments to see if the city could fill a position under this program. The council discussed the present energy crisis and felt that everything possible should be done to conserve energy. Relative to Christmas lighting the council voted to have the lights on only during the hours of six to nine beginning the 15 and ending the 25th. The old wooden fence at the ball park was discussed. The council felt that in the new budget year monies should be allocated to have this fence replaced re-placed with chain link. |
