Mrs. Pehrson was a Relief Society visiting teacher for 30 years. She was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include her daugh-ters, Mrs. Wayne (Thelma) Martell, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. A. W. (Maurine) Kinder, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Elmer G. (Dorothy) Manning, Lehi; step-sons, stepdaughters, Lester P., Bountiful, Joseph, Germany; Mrs. William (Faye) Smith, Mrs. Sidney (June) Manning, both Salt Lake City; ll grand-children, 36 great grandchild-ren; 2 Funeral services were held last Saturday in the First-Fift- h Ward Chapel in Pleasant Grove for Josephine Brown Wright Pehrson, 83, who died Sept. 28 in the American Fork Hospital after an illness. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Mrs. Pehrson was born Feb. 9, 1888 in Pleasant Grove to George M. and Matilda West Brown. She married Franklin P. Wright, Sept. 15, 1905 in Lin-do- n. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died Oct. 14, 1922. She married Oliver J. LANDSCAPING Garden Club members Velma Gillman, Lucille Hillman, Maxine West, Evelyn Schoonover, Mary Shoell, Alice Simper, Lillian Huish and Claudia Brown are helping landscape at Kiwanis Park near the mouth of Battle Creek. Project is underway. Garden Club Finishes Fall Planting of Iris at Park Will Resume Beautificafion Project Next Spring Members of the Pleasant Grove Garden Club met at the Kiwanis Club Picnic Park to finish their fall planting of iris. They will continue in the spring p.m., Samuel D. Green, design-er & printer of the Garden Re-porter of the Utah Associated Garden Clubs and expert pho-tographer, will be a guest of the Pleasant Grove Garden Club. He will show beautiful colored slides of gardens and flowers. Light refreshments will be served. The theme of the evening will be "Garden Therapy" un-der the direction of Maxine Smith and Alice Simper. Garden Club members ex-tend an invitation to the pub-lic to attend. The meeting will be held at the Jaycee Club House, west of the highway by the rodeo grounds. with the landscaping project there. Club members then took a fall tour under the direction of Mary Shoell, tour chairman of the club, up Provo Canyon and on to the Hope Picnic area. They enjoyed the colorful fall scenery abounding on all sides. Although the ground was cov-ered with several inches of snow from the recent snow-fall, they had a delicious picnic lunch in the mountains. Participating on the tour were Mary Shoell, Claudia Brown, Lucille Hillman, Max-ine West, Evelyn Schoonover, Velma Gillman, Alice Simper and Lillian Huish. Contoct instructor or , Modernette Club Has Anniversary Party Last Week The Modernette Club celebra- - ted their anniversary at a din-ner party at the "Carriage House" restaurant in Bountiful last week. The group enjoyed the friend-ly atmosphere and the charm of the decor. The table was attractively decorated with red glowing can-dles and a centerpiece of red and pink petunias. Favors were booklets with pictures of all members arranged on a club tree. Inside was the calendar of the year's events. A prettily decorated cake brought a cli-max to the lovely eventful ev-ening. Officers for the coming year are Ruby West, president; Grace Cornaby, secretary and treasurer, and Mary Jacobs, historian and reporter. The Carriage House restaur-ant is owned and operated by Morris and Joan Peay, son of Golden and Estella Peal, for-mer residents of Pleasant Grove. Fireman's Auxiliary Elects New Officers At Recent Meeting The Fireman's Auxiliary met Monday night Sept. 27, with the meeting being conduc-ted by President Naomi Gray. Elections were held for the coming year. Eberle Smith is the new president of the aux-iliary. Maxine West was elect-ed vict president, Annette Mills secretary and Naomi Gray, reporter. Clara Edwards is the historian. After elections problems were discussed and refreshmtnts ser-ved by the presidency. Lindon Camp DUP Will Hold Meeting Next Thursday Lindon Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp will meet next Thursday, Oct. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lindon Ward Church, according to Captain Donna Greaves. Anyone interested in coming to the meeting is invited, Mrs. Greaves said. The Lindon Camp is seeking new members and would like anyone eligible to come out and get acquainted with D.U.P. activities. |
