Show AAUW Monthly Meeting Held In Early December The AAUW held the December Decem-ber meeting at the home of Mrs. Leroy Thorne. Co-hostess with Mrs. Thorne was Mrs. Ella Jackson. Margaret Hayes gave a report re-port of the drug problem in Utah in connection with her subject of "Relationship of Juvenile Ju-venile Delinqueny to Our Be-leagured Be-leagured Earth." Jennie Gleason gave some interesting in-teresting reports pertaining to the population explosion. Mrs. Eugene Allred reported on the incident at Skull Valley and gave a report of the book called "Science and Survival" by Barry Commoner. Mrs. Lawrence Crease reported repor-ted on the Women's Legislative Council meeting, which was very interesting. Mrs. Emily Pederson has been asked to search out some places in town to display some of the works of our local artists. She and Mrs. Retta Crease attended at-tended the last city council meeting and reported that they are in accordance with this plan, if a suitable place can be found. In the meantime, Mrs. Pederson has arranged with some of the local business men to display some paintings for the month of December. Bank of Pleasant Grove has two paintings on display, one by Mrs. Betty Listen and one by Mrs. Mary Shoemaker. The Utah Power and Light office is displaying a painting by Mrs. Coral Hicks and Christensen's is displaying one of Mrs. Emily Em-ily Pederssons. The AAUW expressed their gratitude to these establishments establish-ments in helping them get this project underway. They report we have marvelous talent in our city and we should become more aware of it. Light refreshments were served ser-ved at the meeting by the hostess hos-tess to the following not already mentioned: Mrs. Jean Fugal, Mrs. Walter Reimschiissel, Mrs. Eleroy West, Mrs. Vera Wagstaff, Miss Marjorie Hold-away Hold-away and Mrs. Jess Monson. |
