Show Garden Club Has Meeting Last Monday Night Members of the Pleasant Grove Garden Club met at the home of Mrs. Kenneth (Velma) Gillman, Monday, Feb. 10 for a meeting and a social. A beautiful "red velvet" cake was the center of attraction, along win hearts and heather Valentine motifs to commemorate commem-orate the nineteenth year anniversary anni-versary of the Garden Club in the Pleasant Grove area. President Veatriee Stewart welcomed Mrs. Sharron Newman New-man and Naon Smith as new club members, and hoped that all club members would have enthusiasm and ambition to carry out the many projects that are planned for city beau-tification beau-tification this year. Mrs. Velma Gillman, chairman chair-man of Awards, showed awards received at the mid-winter convention con-vention at the State Garden Club Center in Salt Lake City. The Pleasant Grove Club received re-ceived three awards, meritorius achievement award for yearbook, year-book, club activities and flower shows. Mrs. Mary McCormick, club member, gave a very interesting interest-ing and informative book review, re-view, "The World in Your Garden" Gar-den" by the National Geographic Geo-graphic Society. "So widespread wide-spread are the areas from which our decorative plants have come, that when we walk along our garden paths it is almost al-most like taking an extensive tour. Anyone can truly say, 'The world is in my garden." Club members present besides be-sides those already mentioned were Ida Devey, Lillian Huish, Darlene Carter, Beth Gray, Colleen McCormick, Joyce Pitts, Verland Saling, Mary Shoell, Alice Simper, Joy Spain-hower, Spain-hower, Ivadell Tomlinson and Earlin Walker. |
