Show Mark Madsen Speaks to Women's Council The program for the Utah County Women's Legislative Council held on Feb. 6, was sponsored by the judiciary comittee with Mrs. Geraldine Harrison, chairman, introducing introduc-ing Mark Madsen as the speaker. speak-er. Mr. Madsen, assistant to Vernon Ver-non Rofney, attorney general for Utah, spoke on "Politics-State "Politics-State and Federal and the Powers Pow-ers of Each." Mr. Madsen pointed out the trend of our government from the beginning when we started this country. He told of the powers of local, state and federal fed-eral government. He said that city and county government is sometices more effective than state and national, and costs less, too. He said that the closer clos-er the government is to the people, the more effective it is. He finished his talk by saying say-ing that our laws outline what you can and what you cannot do. It was his opinion that the laws of each state need not be uniform, except in the case of perhaps our traffic laws. |
