Albert Spen-cer of Pleasant Grove and In-dian Springs, Nevada, are an-nouncing the marriage of their daughter, Sheila to Terry Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ray of Rulerville, Mississippi. The marriage took place on Feb. 11 in Rulerville. Sheila graduated from the Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She has been attending Dixie College for the past year and a half. She is affiliated with Sigma Iota Chi, and served as presi-dent of the Airlines Hi-Lit- Club. Terry graduated from Ruler-ville High School and was ac-tive in athletics and was an honor student. He is studying engineering at Mississippi State University. 1 I I t I . I ; ' . l MISS VERNICE GOODE Vernice Goode to Wed Friday with Leslie Robinson Mr. and Mrs. Vera Goode of Pleasant Grove announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Vernice to Leslie Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Robinson of American Fork. The couple will exchange nuptial vows in Salt Lake LDS Temple on Friday, February 14. The bride-to-b- e is a graduate of the Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She was a Pep Club president, GAA president and FFA Sweetheart in high school. She is presently employed at Bayly's in Pleas-ant Grove. The prospective groom is a graduate of the American Fork High School. He also graduated from the Utah Barber College. He has worked in Provo, Lehi, and is presently proprietor of the Barber Shop at Roy's Sport Shop in American Fork. The couple will make their home in American Fork follow-the- ir marriage. . - - ' rr, N ' ... - v ' Vj - - M, WINS HONORS Mrs. Paul Murdock, left, served as model for Connie Williamson of American Fork, who took first place in the hair styling division at Beauticians convention. Connie Williamson Wins Hair Styling Division at Annual Parade of Affiliates Connie Williamson, American Fork beautician and cosmetol-ogist, took top honors at the annual Parade of Affiliates, which was held as a feature of National Beauty Salon Week at the Prudential Plaza in Salt Lake City. The convention was held throughout the day Sun-day, with Connie competing in the hair styling division. Mrs. Paul Murdock served as her model. "Crown Your Beauty with a New Hair Style" themed the educational show, which was a kickoff for National Beauty Salon Week, for beauticians and cosmetologists throughout the state. Judging at the show was 60 per cent for trend, 20 per cent for workmanship and 20 per cent for adaptability. Mrs. Williamson represented Affiliate No. 1, North Utah County in the state show and accumulated points toward the Cosmetologist of the Year Award with her styling win. The National Beauty Salon Week will continue tonight (Thursday) with a gala Ha-waiian Luau to be held at the Orem High School. Affiliate 1 will host the Hawaiian Luau, and new spring hair styles will be featured. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any member beautician. MISS CINDY RUTH FREDERICK Cindy Ruth Frederick, Franklin Jaynes Will Wed in Manti Temple Friday Mr. and Mrs. James Freder-ick of Trusville, Alabama, take pleasure in announcing the en-gagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Cindy Ruth and Franklin De-Lo- it Jaynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Jaynes of PI. Grove. The bride is a graduate of Woodlawn High School where she was active in drama, and clubs. She was also an honor student. The groom is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and the four year Seminary program. He attended Dixie College before he filled a mis-sion to the Southern States. The young couple plan a Feb-ruary 14 wedding in the Manti LDS Temple. An open house is being held in their honor that evening at the groom's home 111 South Second East, from 7:30 to 10.00 o'clock. All friends and relat-ives are cordially invited to attend. Elysium Club Has Democrat as Speaker Recntly Mrs. Norma Thomas, State Vice Chairman of the Demo-cratic Party presented the pro-gram at the meeting of the Ely-sium Club Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Howard (Jeanne) Walker. Mrs. Thomas related the highlights of her trip to Chi-cago where she attended the Democratic National Conven-tion. Her choicest experience was that of being chosen to es-cort former Vice President Hubert Humphrey to the pod-ium after his nomination. Mrs. Thomas also commented on the young people from Chicago that were assigned to the Utah delegation. She said, they were some of the most courteous young people she had ever met and that she would never forget them. After Mrs. Thomas had fin-ished, Beulah Whiting introdu-ced Carolyn Bezzant, Linda Wells and Patsy Young. These girls represented Pleasant Grove at Girls State. Each girl gave a brief and interesting talk on her experiences at Lo-gan and the three of them sang some of the Girls State songs. Hostess for the evening was Euth Christiansen, who served a lovely tray luncheon with Valentine theme to the twenty-fiv- e members and guests. Wesley Jense and New Bride Back From Hawaii Trip Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Jense are at home after enjoying a vacation in San Francisco and Hawaii. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple Jan. 15, 1969 and following the temple rites, a wedding breakfast was en-joyed at the Doll .House for close friends and relatives. Mrs. Jense is the former Lu-cille A. Murdock of Beaver. Following the wedding the couple left by jet for San Fran-cisco, where Mr. Jense attend-ed the Jan. 18-2- 2 convention of the National Canners Asso-ciation. He is a member of the board of directors of the NCA. Jan. 22 they left by jet for Hawaii where, as members of a guided tour, they visited and stayed overnight on all of the islands except two. Included in the tour of points of interest was the LDS Church Polynes-ian Cultural Center at Oahu. HOSPITAL NEWS Among babies born at the American Fork Hospital during the past week were the follow-ing of interest to the people in this area. Feb. 3, a girl to Jack and Bonnie Taylor Wadley of Lehi. A girl on Feb. 6, to Lyman and Vida Ford Sevey. A boy on Feb. 8 to Michael C. and Susan Fox Ewell of Lehi. Other patients at the hospital from this area included Estelle Fenton, Beulah Thornton, Jean Walker, Fred Atwood, Ranch Brown, Sundee Joe Smith, Laurie Bennett, Dixie Boyce, Delia Bezzant, Lynda Morgan, Susan Carter and Joy Ellis. Eda Powell, Odessa Atkin-son, Carey Paxman, Holly Kay Walker, Maude L. Sutton, Ha-zel Strasburg, Thelma Adam-son- , LaRee Keel, Judy Shep-herd, Alice Christensen, Mary Lynn Leonhardt. Funeral Rites Held Saturday for LaRee Olsen Oakey Funeral services for LaRee Olsen Oakey, 43, who died last Wednesday, following a brief illness, were held last Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kolob LDS Stake House in Springville. Mrs. Oakey is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Olsen of Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
