ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade students are experienc-ing a rare treat in music appre-ciation, according U Principal R. J. Emal at Valley View. "It's not entertainment in any true sense of the word, but an opportunity to really live with the performers and receive the stimulation that comes there-by", Principal Emal said. This year's experience has to do with two groups of young in-strumentalists from BYU. They are called the "Young Aud-ience Group. Last week they featured stu-dents playing brass instru-ments. This Thursday or Fri-day it will be an aggregation of woodwind performers. The young musicians play a few better class numbers. But most important of all, they talk about the music, they play explain the mechanics of their instruments and conduct a question and answer period. In this way, we hope to coun-teract the degrading influence of the music the boys and girls are currently hearing over radio and television, Principal Emal explained. ESN 'Spring vacation for Alpine Elementary and Secondary School students has been set for Thursday and Friday, April 11 and 12. ESN Individual colored pictures were taken at Grovecrest Mon-day and Tuesday of this week. "They will be ready for distri-bution before the spring vac-ation," Mary Varney, school secretary, said. Two Local Boys Receive Senior Lifeguard Awards Two young men from Pleas-a- n Grove have been awarded Red Cross Senior Lifeguard Cerificates.
