Show i V.,. ' I MRS. IRENE V. WRIGHT 80 years old Open House Will Honor A.F. Matron Sunday Afternoon An open house will be held Sunday, March 17, in honor of the 80th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Irene V. Wright of American Am-erican Fork. Mrs. Wright was born March 19, 1888 in Bountiful, daughter of William and Harriet Parkin Varley. She moved with her family to Vineyard, where she received her education. She was married May 8, 1907 to William A. Wright of Lindon in the Salt Lake Temple. After the death of her husband in 1911, she married his brother, Benjamin H. Wright, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1913. Service to the LDS Church has totaled more than 50 years including positions held in every ev-ery auxiliary. She was a counselor coun-selor in the Primary, president of YWMIA and Relief Society president for twelve years. The American Fork First Ward Relief Society, under her direction, pieced and quilted an old-fashioned quilt for the Joseph Jos-eph Smith home in Nauvoo. She has been organist for church groups during hr lifetime, life-time, beginning when she was thirteen. Mrs. Wright was an avid basketball bas-ketball fan and supported the American Fork High school teams for 25 years. She also followed athletic events in which her grandsons particpat-ed. particpat-ed. Mother of six children and step-mother to three, Mrs. Wright has a posterity that numbers four living children; 16 grandchildren; 49 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great great-great grandchildren. Her children chil-dren are Mrs. Ira (Zella) Thornton; William H. Wright, and Mrs. Junius (Dorothy) Wright of American Fork; and Mrs. Shirlen (Oveda) Jarvis of Pleasant Grove. Leland D. Wright and Mrs. Joe (Wilma) Reese, both deceased, were residents res-idents of American Fork. All her friends are invited to call at her home, 190 South 4th East, American Fork, Sunday Sun-day between 2 and 6 p.m. Mrs. Wright requests no gifts. |
