Show WHY AN EXCHANGE CLUB for some time I 1 have been won 1 dering if we should try to hold any more exchange club meetings with so few attending it has seemed perhaps an unnecessary organization however at last mondays luncheon at taylors cafe those present felt that there should be some such organization and voted to have the club carry on and also adopted a procedure which it is hoped will increase increase interest in the club and in its activities it was decided to assess a 1 annual membership tec fee beginning april and as an encouragement coura gement to casual members to join charge loe each meeting to those not having paid the 1 membership fee it was also decided that all future regular meetings meeting should be noon luncheons to be held the first and third mondays of each month it was felt that definite and regular meeting time would increase attendance in accordance with this decision there will bo be another mooting meeting next monday april 6 at fentons jentons Fen tons there are at the present time four bonafide bona fide members that is four who have paid the 1 membership fee no doubt the number of those officially fici ally belonging will be greatly increased at next mondays luncheon since the payment of the dollar will release participants from the necessity of paying the extra dime now why an exchange club it is is quite obvious that such an organization can serve a vital public need such a club is contacted frequently for information concerning a locality such a club can stimulate all manner of worthwhile projects for the benefit of a town such a club is often the medium through which governmental units determine the feasibility feas ability of establishing government activities in a particular locality there are many other things such a club can do but the sum total of the benefits that accrue to a town depend on the amount of interest taken in the activities of that club and the number of active members it boasts if the amount of active interest remains remains at the same low level that has been maintained lately our town will probably get about as much out of the possibilities that are presented to us as the democratic party got out of the last city election every body knows of course how much that was IVAN DECKER president exchange club |
