Show funeral services held for silas I 1 J ward with the west ward chapel filled to capacity with relatives and friends fiends from this and many other surrounding rounding ur communities v very ery impressive funeral services were held last ast sunday afternoon for silas J ward whose passing was reported reported in last weeks issue of the times they were conducted by arnold stevens of the west ward bishopric and commenced with the combined choirs of the two wards singing nearer my god to thee with ormon onnon weight conducting and florence marsden at the piano hugh L adams offered the opening prayer after which a mixed quartet consist ing of mary 0 della delia mars don den albert quist and ormon R weight sang Flo four speakers john P orton david H richards A M marsden and bishop I 1 E riddle of the cedar city ath ward told of the life of the deceased and the fine service he had rendered to his community and church during his life lyle marsden played a violin solo meditation during the services services and after a few closing remarks by elder stevens the choir sang abide with me as the closing number the closing prayer was offered by william marsden and at the cemetery the grave was dedicated by bishop henry graft graff of santa clara pallbearers Pall bearers were four grandsons verl and ward taylor and veron and udell decker and two nephews delbert and joesph E ward while flowers were in charge of pearl russell and june decker and a group of small girls although mrs ward was unable to attend the funeral a complete record of what was said was taken down in in shorthand by three young ladies for a family record |
