Show dixie forest cattle and horse holds meet the annual meeting of the dixie national forest cattle and horse braziers gra advisory board committee was held at cedar city saturday march 28 the committee composed of representatives from 17 stock mens associations oc actions whose stock use the dixie ie ranges discussed problems of the range for 1942 the big game problem as it relates to deer on congested areas of the dixie game preserve came in in for considerable review further measures in control of deer will be necessary before any great improve ment in the condition of the ranges can be expected the probability of fewer hunters this year with many young men going into the army ana the fact that economies in transportation made necessary through the saving of rubber will offer some obstacles to the public hunt this year and keep it from being as large as in prior years with a consequence of a smaller number of surplus deer likely to be removed the hu hunt nt contributes abundant meat for food and the removal of surplus deer b by y a well managed hunt can aid the food for freedom program forest reviewed the progress that has been made in range and game management and pointed out the advantages that come through range re seeding and the establishment of range watering facilities cili ties and fences the production of better livestock was stressed the present big demand for beef offers an opportunity for culling and the improvement of herds heras by the substitution of better beef producing animals the committee unanimously asly agreed upon a plan of cooperation with all public agencies in the por par motion of the war effort albert albertson newly appo appointed int supervisor of the dixie national I 1 forest discussed the similarity of range conditions with those on the fishlake fishlike Fish lake the committee adopted a resolution t 10 n of appreciation for the services of blaine betenson recently appointed supervisor of the fishlake fishlike Fish lake national forest in a change of positions between these national forests |
