Show henry W lunt roadside park dedicated today the henry W lunt roadside park recently y completed as a part of the state road commissions roadside improvement program was ivas officially opened to the traveling public this afternoon with dedication ceremonies at the park the park located on buckhorn beckhom flat at ai the site of the old robinson well about 10 miles north of parowan carowan on highway 91 is a part of the state and federal road commissions beau program and was named in honor of the late henry W lunt lun who served on the utah uta state roar commission from this thi is section of the state and who did more perhaps than any other one man jn urging the building of more a and nd better roads through outlying districts district of this state A short dedicatory service wis held at 1 p m the program for which was as follows commissioner warren H bulloch chairman ol of the local board was in charge of arrangements range ments and called the meeting to order and the first number was the song let the mountains shout for joy by a mixed quartet consisting of vern jones mr and mrs roy L halverson L C miles mrs wm win manning and mr and mrs lorenzo luke and mrs ray lunt the accompaniment was played by mrs lehi M jones and mr halverson directed it it the opening prayer was offered by bishop samuel F F leigh after which mr bulloch gave a speech of welcome and then turned the meeting over to W D hammond chairman of the state road commission who presided during the remainder of the services mr hammond presented county commissioner H L adams state road commissioner abbhi J and landscape engineer eer bowen 0 wen each of whom made short talks resident engineer noal landscape architect allred and landscape foreman frew were also presented by mr hammond another quartet number service was rendered after which joseph H young highway engineer for the US bureau of public roads was the next speaker he was followed by preston G peterson also alse of the road commission who cd mr lunt for the fine man he was and for what he had done for southern utah mayor H H lunt of cedar city son of the man who was being honored gave a short response on behalf of the lunt family after which the quartet and congregation sang come come ye saints the dedicatory prayer was offered by wm win R palmer |
