Look, up at the Park City Ski Area it's Captain Video! Captain Video really is no mystery to the folks who ski regularly at the Park City Ski Area. He's Ted Erdahl, who with Pokey Richardson, operates oper-ates Western Telemedia, a relatively new company that specializes in videotaping skiers. Captain Video is on the mountain every day between 1 and 3 p.m. to tape whoever wishes to ski by his camera. The tapes are then played at the Rusty Nail between 4 and 6 p.m. The Captain Video ski taping is free to the public. His location is posted daily at the Summit House, Snow Hut and base cafeteria. So if you want to see how you look booming down the mountain, find the Captain. Erdahl has been doing this sort of thing for the Park City Ski School for a number of years. He points out that the video is a very good tool for ski instruction. It is easier for students to improve skiing techniques when they can see what they are doing. "When they see themselves, wow, the light goes on," he said referring to the application of instruction. But Western Telemedia does more than videotape skiers as they slide by. The new video company also has a program called Vacation Video. According to, Erdahl, a family or group can have a videotape made of their ski vacation. For an $80 fee, j jgHHnaSflaSSSBVBBSnBaBBSBSB Erdahl will accompany skiers on the mountain for a day of skiing. The tape will then be edited, music will be put to the skiing and even titles will appear on the tape. The response to Vacation Video has been good, Erdahl said. Beyond Captain Video and Vacation Vaca-tion Video, Richardson and Erdahl tape the Town Races, the annual airline race camp and other programs. Presently, the video company is gearing up for other projects which include summer events, an MTV video and even a hair salon video. , "We can do any kind of project," Erdahl said. Western Telemedia plans to do business year round at its location next to the Rusty Nail at the Resort Center. 1H.U.MIII UMUU... llllimMlllIMMIIIIII-MllllIH |
