Show PCP announces schedule for 1 983-84 season Pending the signing of an agreement between Silver Mill of Park City and Park City Performances for the use of the historic Egyptian Theatre, the non-profit community com-munity group has announced its tentative plans for the 1983-84 season. Opening the group's third season will be Ira Levin's chilling mystery, Death Trap, under the direction of Craig Clyde, production manager for Channel 20, KSTU-TV. Clyde is remembered remem-bered in Park City as the author of last year's First West Films production of the original play Killing Radius. Death Trap will open Friday, Fri-day, Nov. 4 and will run Nov. 5, 10, 11 and 12. During the holiday season, Park City Performances will present the delightful musical, musi-cal, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, under the direction of Ed Britt, who recently directed the local production of The Prisoner of Second Avenue. Charlie Brown will open Sunday, Dec. 18, and will run Dec. 19, 21, 22, 26, 28 and 30. In February, Sam Shepherd's Shep-herd's Broadway hit True West will be presented on the stage of the Egyptian Theatre. Thea-tre. This off-beat comedy has received critical acclaim ac-claim on Broadway and will be the first community theater presentation. o -the r -show ia this area. PCP hopes to have a surprise celebrity director for this show. The final regular season presentation will be the musical, Carousel, in April. This popular show will open April 7, and run April 8, 11, 12, 14, IS, 19 and 21. A special undertaking of Park City Performances for 1984 will be the original production of the "Park City Centennial Review." This historic (and hysterical) musical review will be presented twice weekly at the Egyptian Theatre beginning begin-ning in late January and extending throughout Park City's centennial year celebration. cele-bration. Working in cooperation coopera-tion with the Chamber of Commerce, PCP will utilize local and professional talent to write, score, produce and present this special gift to Park City. According to Jere Calmes, president of PCP, a third anniversary season drive will begin Oct. 10, and extend until Nov. 4. Season tickets, memberships to PCP and First Nighter Gold Memberships will be sold with exciting prizes and premiums as incentives. Park City Performances reopened the historic Egyptian Egyp-tian Theatre with a gala evening three years ago this October. Since that time, the community theater group has presented plays, musicals, musi-cals, and special happenings. happen-ings. It is the goal of PCP to continue this tradition and to expand upon the use and enjoyment of the Egyptian Theatre by Park City residents resi-dents and visitors. |
