C. girls 4-0 I by CHRIS EISENBERG Record contributing writer .'' The Park City girls' soccer team was overwhelmed by the Salt Lake Strikers 4-0 last Saturday at the high school field. I Strikers' Elizabeth Hill scored the I first goal when she powered one 4 through the hands of goalie Kerry Lewis. . Salt Lake goalie Katrina Block was untested through most of the first half. The second half was much more strenuous for Block, however. Shannon Shan-non Richards and Meagen Holcomb tested her by taking numerous shots on goal. Even though Park City did a better bet-ter job of keeping the ball in the Strikers' territory during the second half, they still could not score. It wasn't until early in the fourth quarter that the Strikers scored their second goal. Hill bounced one off the post and into the goal, just out of goalie Gina Glenne's reach. Midway through the fourth quarter, Tarra Stark took the ball downfield and slipped it past Holcomb at goalie. Stark did it again moments later with an assist from teammate Cricket McClaine. "We just didn't shoot when we had the opportunity," said Park City Coach Terry Richardson. Strikers Coach Reed Hansen said the key to his team's success was that his offense and defense performed, per-formed, "Marvelously." Park City is looking forward to next Saturday's game against the Stompers in Salt Lake City. It will begin at 2 p.m. |
