Show Girls volleyball team splits weekend matchup i 8 if v v 1 i The Miners girls' varsity volleyball team split two matches I with Grantsville last week at Park City High School. Park City's junior varsity team won its only match against the Cowboys on the Sept. 26. Grantsville won the first varsity match 15-13, 7-15, 15-13. The Miners returned the favor 15-7, 9-15, 15-13 to raise its record to 2-6. The JVs ousted Grantsville in straight sets 15-7, 15-11 in evening out their record at 2-2. The Park City girls came within a hair of winning both matches, as they led 13-7 in the third game of the first match. They fell apart, however, as they failed to put a serve in play in five consecutive tries during Grantsville's comeback. com-eback. "Defensively, we played better than in previous games," said Coach Kelly Walker. "We were in every game, but made a few mental errors that cost us." Walker praised the play of Christie Schlenski, who played the setter position. She set the ball on 30 of Park City's 80 points. Stacey Cofer looked good as a hitter and Erin Bolton and Theresa Lints had eight blocks each in both matches. ' 'Setter Dana Richman knows how to push people around the court, how to motivate them," Wallker said of her budding JV star. "Jenny Packard did a good job offensively for us.
