Show i Park City is caring about each other Park Gty has had its ups and downs for all of its 1 00 year history. A fire leveled the town at the turn of the century, but the people pulled together and rebuilt. When the mining industry collapsed', h Governor of Utah advised the residents to give up and abandon the town. Instead, they marshalled lojcal talent and assembled the local ski industry. This spirit of doing for each other and sharing the good of the community has prevailed since the town was founded. Annual events like the Balloon Festival, Ride V Tie Race, Art Festival and Miners Day are possible only because of hundreds of hours of volunteer time and effort. Special events like the World Cup and the Special Olympics have been enormous successes because of the volunteerism. Park City people demand a lot of themselves and each other, and insist on quality schools, government, and quality fun. j The articles in this special edition are an assortment covering the last few years. All of the events, challenges, and programs are a result of active citizen involvement and a strong community spirit. Like everything else featured here, the All American City presentation is a result of a community effort. Literally hundreds of local people and businesses have contributed time and effort to this project. Their support and enthusiasm has been appreciated. |
