Show Borash shines at forensics meet A Park City High School student made the final rounds of a competition competi-tion in impromtu speaking and i several other students earned ex- cellent ratings at the Portia Douglas . Individual Event Tournament in public speaking. The contest was held Nov.9 at Ogden High School. More than 9d students from high schools throughout Utah participated. ' Jeni Borash reached . the final,; rounds of the impromptu, speaking, ' "contest arid took fifth-place overall" to earn a superior rating. She also received an excellent rating for international in-ternational extemporaneous speaking. The top rating is "superior," followed by "excellent" and "good." "I'm enormously pleased with tjie results' said Brenda Bensch, foren-sics foren-sics 'ioach. "Most of our students there were novices and they did quite well. " Tim Nickels and Dawn Calavan earned excellents in humorous interpretation, inter-pretation, while Matt McQuay was rated good. In the oratory competition, Stephanie Hedges and Tracey Montgomery Mon-tgomery were rated excellent while Betsy Schapper received a good. Mary Morrison was rated good overall in national extemporaneous speaking and Curtis Ward received the same rating for dramatic interpretation.' inter-pretation.' Jason Schlenske and Nick Schapper Schap-per received excellent ratings in one session of legislative forum and Shelley Barnes finished with a 2-2 score in the Lincoln-Douglas debate. |
