Show Society Inspired by Historian around - the information obtained in the interviewing process. Additional training in the art of interviewing for oral histories will be offered to pre-registered individuals on Monday, April 20. Haymond will discuss and demonstrate interviewing techniques with senior volunteer Bob Burns. All who are interested in participating in the training session are asked to sign-up bv Monday, noon by phoning fika Beard (649-7497). Tapes will be provided. However, interviewers are asked to bring cassette recorders and microphones if available. Members attending the April 10 Park City Historicial Society meeting were inspired by Utah State Historian Jay Haymond. An expert in the field of oral histories, Haymond encouraged the efforts of society members in pbtaining taped interviews with individuals who participated in creating Park City's past. The senior citizens who currently and formerly lived in Park City have volunteered to pardeipate in the interview-process. interview-process. Under the direction of Historical Society volunteer Peter Holsdorf, efforts are being made to determine what information exists, what primary resouces are available to obtain data which has not yet been recorded, organize reference materials and resources for the interviewer, and trained volunteers to participate in the interviewing process. Oral history tapes will be transcribed. Tapes and transcriptions will be available for educational purposes, research, general interest. KPCW anticipates the Historical Society designing a talk-show |
