Show Alpha-Beta Pharmacy Robbed, Burglars Take Selected Drugs PCPD Detective Lloyd Evans Ev-ans is investigating a burglary burg-lary that occurred at the Alpha Beta in-store pharmacy pharma-cy sometime between July 4 and 5. Although the store itself was open during the holiday weekend, the pharmacy phar-macy was closed, the crime was reported early Tuesday when the pharmacist opened his store and discovered ceiling tiles had been removed remov-ed and an undetermined amount of prescription drugs missing. Evans said he is waiting for an inventory count to reveal what drugs were stolen and in what quantity. He added an initial investigation determined the burglars were "very selective" in what they took. "They took tranquilizers, pain killers and other drugs that produce a high or can be sold on the open market", Evans said. He indicated around thirteen varieties of drugs were taken. According to the Detective, the misplaced ceiling tiles indicate entry was gained through the roof. An inspection of the top of the store produced leads which led Evans to conclude the burglars may have entered through the air conditioning or ventilating systems. Once inside a crawl space above the store, they evidently, made their way ta a spot above the locked pharmacy and dropped down . through the ceiling. Evans concludes the intri-. intri-. cacy of the crime indicates more than one person was likely involved. Evans said the crime appears to have been well planned and is the first pharmacy burglary in Park City in recent memory. Because of the nature of the crime Evans has expanded his area of investigation to include suspect's locations other than just Park City. He adds however, he has not ruled out the possibility of it being a locally perpe-Iratcd perpe-Iratcd 'crime: ! ' ' ' ' -l ' |
