Show PCEA Lifts Sanctions Against School District presented to the PCEA but a grievance policy is also in the offing. Smith indicated they were looking forward to reviewing the district's proposal pro-posal and were holding filing a mimbe,r of grievances pending the establishment of a grievance procedure, Carl Winters Middle School by then principal Otis Falls. PCEA representative Hal Smith read a lengthy letter to the board recapitulating what happened and the resulting regional and national natio-nal publicity. The principal fired them without giving a reason for his actions. The teachers submitted their job evaluations evaluat-ions to the press. The evaluations included excellent excel-lent recommendations on the abiliiies and performances of the teachers. Without a policy permitting or requiring such disclosure the school district refused to give the teachers any reasons rea-sons for Falls' action prompting prompt-ing the sanctions against the district and a lawsuit filed by the teachers. Falls later resigned his post citing the pursuit of other interests. In the meantime, the district set up a negotiating committee to work with the PCEA in an effort to allay fears and anxieties expressed by district dis-trict teachers after the incident. Smith indicated the PCEA was recommending lifting the sanctions because of the good faith expressed by the district. Three meetings have been held so far on the issue of due process for teachers with another one scheduled at this writing.
