Show School Board Renegotiates Bond Sale The Park City School , Board Tuesday night decided to once again negotiate the sale of $5.8 million in bonds for the construction a new middle school. Bond counsel Lyle Larsen was authorized to negotiate the bond sale with the hope of securing a bid at a lower rate, Superintendent Richard Goodworth said. The district bid the bonds in early December, and the two bids received were too ; high, he said. The board hopes to obtain a bid at 9.4 to 9.7 percent interest, Good-worth Good-worth explained, adding that the first two bids came in at 10.19 and 10.20 percent. The school board is continuing contin-uing its negotiations for the purchase of property to build the proposed middle school at a site east of the high school. Goodworth said negotiatiohs with landowner Dr. D. A. Osguthrope "seem to be going very well." He said the district hopes to make an announcement on the sale sometime next .week. The district, he added,- wants to begin construction on the middle school this spring. And in other property transactions, the district sold the property at which a school-owned duplex was located. The property, Goodworth said, was sold to developers Akerlow, Thomas and Dyer for $400,000. The duplex, which is located at Woodside and 15th Streets, will be moved to a site in Summit Park when negotiations for property prop-erty there are completed. The superintendent said the plans for the purchase of that property have been formulated formu-lated and they are currently before developers for ap- . proval. Goodworth noted that property owned by Tom - Sullivan adjacent to the duplex property was also sold to the developers, and the developers gave the Sullivan house to the district so that it would also be used as teacher housing. He said the Sullivan house would be moved to lot 31 at Spring Creek. High school prinicipal Jack Dozier gave an extra duty pay committee report at the lengthy Tuesday meeting. The committee has been studying a formula in which to pay school staff members extra salary for their extracurricular extra-curricular work. , '. The board postponed action ac-tion authorizing contracts for the 1981-82 school year until it completes discussion on professional personnel evaluation eval-uation at ah executive session Thti rsdav That evening, the board will take action on the contracts in an open meeting. In other business, the board approved the appointment appoint-ment of Ron B. Goden as a part-time custodian at the middle school. The board also authorized the school to submit a proposal to the Utah State Board of Education and the state department of Health, Education and Welfare asking ask-ing for funding for an integrated arts program. Goodworth said the district dis-trict is working with eight other school districts in the NU Service Center to develop devel-op the arts program, which integrates arts with regular school curriculum. |
