Show Cross-Country Race Winners Announced By Kathy Savin The first in a series of six Citizens Cross-Country Ski race's was held Saturday, Satur-day, February 1. The races will be held every other week end, the next beingscheduled for Sunday, February 16 at 11:00 p.m. The program is sponsored by Wolfe's Sporting Goods Stores and The Park City Cross-Country Ski School. A $2.00 entry fee, $2.00 returnable re-turnable bib deposit and a will to give one's crosscountry cross-country ski equipment and oneself a good workout are all that is required. There are $150.00 worth of prizes given away to the first, second and third place winners. Some of the prizes that were presented to those victorious this past weekend were: touring poles, crosscountry cross-country ski bindings, waxing kits, touring books and knicker sox. Anyone can enterfrom 2to 102. The competitors are grouped by age and skilled experience. Those grouped by age ski four kilometers approximately 2.5 miles. The professional and classified clas-sified skiers tread eight kil ometers or five miles. Most of the various race events had quite a few participants par-ticipants makingcompetition very keen. The professional and classified race was especially es-pecially exciting with the top three consisting of Wally Chambers, Ron Nehringand Bob Kassow battling it out the entire course, striving for that first place. The results divided into classes are as follows: Professional and Classified Classif-ied Racers: First, Wally Chambers, second, Ron Nehring; third, Bob Kassow. Veterans (40 and over); First, Rune Qallen; second John Elwell; third, Margie Becker. Seniors (20-40): First, Bob Page; second, Charlie Eiriksson; third, Jim Roman. Ladies (16 and over): First, Sue Beck; Second, Kristina Hinderert; third, Jean Mucha. Juniors Men (16-19): First, Sherm Smott; second, sec-ond, Pete Swanson; third, Allan Bailey. Intermediates (boys and girls under 16): First, Ann Chambers. |
