Show Speedy Response to TMI Fire Scare An unusual odor was reported emenating from the TMI Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, October 27. Alarmed by the smell, an employee called the fire department depart-ment which responded immediately. im-mediately. Several members of the department made a thorough search of the premises, including the kitchen in the coffee shop. Tom Sullivan, firechief, concluded con-cluded that exhaust fumes had filtered up from the garage. He warned that idling a car engine in any enclosed area is dangerous; moreover, this is more likely to happen in winter when warming up your car. He also mentioned that there was a similar smell from TMI not long ago, probably resulting from the same cause. The department cleared the fumes from the garage. The employee was commended by Sullivan for reporting the odor. The fire department should also be commended for the speed with which it responded to the call. |
