Show Ladies Day At Prospector Oub " NanChalat Ladies' Day once conjured up the image of a gaggle of women tying a quilt and eating homemade pie Then Ladies Day meant Women's Groups, reading poetry, relating rela-ting and eating out. Now at the Prospector Athletic Club, t :f Ladies! Day : means t excer-1 excer-1 1 size, coaching and (tradition isn't all bad). Last Wednes-; Wednes-; I day, 25 women particated in a variety of mini courses in i what . Assistant .Director ! j Jeannine Carofanello hopes ; j - will become a monthly event. The entire day costs $8.00 , (including a health conscious I lunch at the Grubsteak) and j serves as a fine introduction ; to the excellent range of ! facilities at the Club. : t Let's admit it. The athletes we admire on Wide World of V Sports don't have to work a 40 hour week", clean the f house, baby sit and stop at ,. the bank. Under these : circumstances it is far too j easy to set a personal training schedule aside suc-' suc-' cumbing to terminal discouragement. discour-agement. Most importantly, those athletes have coaches who guide them, who monitor moni-tor their progress; tailor new programs for them and offer encouragement. Well; that kind of personal coaching is available at the Athletic Club. :y. Jeannine Carolfanello obviously ob-viously enjoys her work. Many of the women who attended Ladies Day had not been to the Athletic Club before and they received a warm welcome from Jeannine Jean-nine and the staff. Their schedule consisted of a series of 45 minute mini-courses mini-courses (several choices pr time-slot) followed by lunch (lots of fresh fruits, and vegetables) and a fashion show featuring the sportswear sports-wear carried by the Club's ' Proshop. Newcomers were guided to the indoor pool for Swimnastics taught by Missy Gruber or to the Tennis . Courts for instruction by Ron i Coopei ; or they were introduced? intro-duced? to the ; Racquetball v ,Pro,;Dennis Cowan. Val 'Cowan offered a popular . course In Aerobic Dance and Jeannine showed willing participants how to use the weight 'room. .All of these mini courses are part of the ongoing Athletic Club pro-. pro-. gram. Jeannine majored in Commercial Physical Educa-: Educa-: tion in Salt Lake, and began work at the Athletic Qub last October. It is hard to be discouraged when she is . around. By lunch time the participants partici-pants were filled with renewed re-newed spirit and at the end of the day they left with at lest a month's worth of new approaches and ideas to work on. |
