Show . EDITORIAL Deserve Support It has been a long time coming but Park City now has a basketball team and a coach who are, undoubtedly, dinners. They proved themselves over the weekend by finishing second place in an eight team tournament. Earlier, the Miners demolished North Summit, 71 to 23. Coach Bruce Reid has instilled a sense of pride in the players. He has also developed a good comeraderie with his team. One can sense the change immediately. The Miners are a spirited and enthusiastic bunch of ball players. They p!ay hard and have a desire to win. They know what it is like not to lose all the time. The players are talented but much of the credit for his year's winning team should go to Coach Reid. When Reid was interviewed by the Record the first week he was in Park City, he said he had "a lot of work to do." The work has already paid off. We can only hope the team's success and Coach Reid's efforts in molding a solid high school basketball squad continue. If there was ever a time to support high school athletics, it is now. The gymnasium at Park City High School should be filled to capacity for all the home games. The players need our support. Winning can be a joint effort. And even if the team doesn't have a spectacular season, it should be noted that their beginning has been impressive. Coach Reid and every player on the basketball team deserve more than simple recognition. They deserve our spirit, enthusiasm and whole-hearted support. |
