Show Memorial Building Policy Changes Members of the Memorial Building Advisory Board met with the building staff last Tuesday to discuss future plans for the building in light of complaints raised at the Summit County Commission meeting. Park City residents com-i com-i plained of vandalism, noise, i unsupervised and unruley groups of youngsters and , the general disrepair the . building now finds itself in. In the Tuesday meeting, Nan McPolin, representing the concerned citizens sta- ted: "We don't want a quiet building and we don't want separate nights for old and young people only. She went on: "If old people are abject to minglingwithyoungpeople then we are doing a tremendous tremen-dous disservice to them. What we do want", she said, "Is some kind of organization organiza-tion where old and youngcan co-exist. We want the vandalism van-dalism stopped and some type of responsible supervision super-vision during all hours the building is open". Marsac Principal, John Elwell, suggested they hire a full time building manager whose duties would be very clearly defined. He also suggested sug-gested the creation and en forcement of a strict set of regulations and by-laws which everyone using the building would be required to abide by. Elwell's proposals pro-posals were met with unanimous unani-mous agreement. Drug Rehabilitation director, direc-tor, Taylor Hartman, suggested sug-gested a concise description of duties be drawn up clarifying clari-fying jobs and responsibilities responsibili-ties of everyone connected with the building. This also met with agreement. As far as disregard for the rules of the building goes, the older people are also guilty. Recreation Director, Kathy Kocinski cited the example ex-ample of lady bowlers refusing refus-ing to obey the "no smoking" ordinance. The Committee agreed that a set of rules which apply to everyone, youngand old, be drawn up and strictly enforced. It was also recomended that if problems erupt with any of the children then the matter should be taken to their parents. Another suggestion would be the hiring of a retired police officer to keep order. Since this meeting some very constructive changes have taken place. NEW HOURS The Memorial Building will now be open from 3:30 to 10 p.m. It will be closed Tuesdays and Sundays with no exception.
