Ab Christensen and Gene Carr were present from the Architects Planners Alliance with an organized plan for parking park-ing areas to facilitate all businesses busi-nesses on Main Street. The plan showed the proposed special improvement district sectioned off into four parts, with each part designed to have an approximately equal number num-ber of parking spaces. Swede Alley would be paved under the proposed plan and 90 degree parking would be allowed allow-ed for on both sides of the street. Parking areas would also be created in lots already located in this area. MORE PARKING spaces were provided for by removing old, vacant buildings which are of no practical use. After the Marsac Elemen-iary Elemen-iary School is moved to its new location, the present playground could be used for parking according ac-cording to the planners. The design also included changes and improvements in the Silver Creek behind Swede Alley, with a Mini-Parkway in a flood plane area just south of Heber Avenue. The Parkway would run along the Silver. Creek. Stairways and walkways between be-tween buildings would be provided pro-vided to get from the parking areas to Main Street businesses. busines-ses. A vote was taken from those present at the meeting. The plan was given approval and was to be sent to the City Council for their ok. |
