Aptitude Test School! When Joi hear this word you immediately think of tests. Tuesday at Park High all juniors and seniors took the A.F.V.A.B. (Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery). This test measures a student's stu-dent's chances of learning various things quickly. Learning areas involved in this assess mentinclude: verbal learning, mathematics, math-ematics, special relations, form discrimination, general gen-eral learning ability and clerical speed and accuracy. These are familiar aptitude areas measured at Park High. They have been assessed as-sessed in past years by the G.A.T.B. (General Aptitude Test Battery). This test has been administered by Utah State Employment Service. In addition to general ap 1 titudes the A.F.V.A.B. measures mea-sures several specific aptitudes ap-titudes related to jobs. These are: motormechan-ical motormechan-ical aptitude, general mechanical mech-anical aptitude, electronics aptitude and general technical tech-nical aptitude. Test scores will be available in approximately approx-imately one month. They will be used to assess student potential during individual counseling. The emphasis in test interpretation will be for post high school training decisions. Candace Bogue. Pep Club Notes The pep club got some new dark blue, high waisted pants. The pants will be worn to the wrestling matches match-es and basketball games. Money for the pants was left over from the money-used money-used to buy the pep club uniforms. Let's Communicate The Advanced Creativity and Communications Class (English) will present an assembly as-sembly Friday afternoon, November 22, at Park High School. It will consist of a play and several variety acts. The public; is invited to attend. ' Concert Set The music department, which includes, chorus, band, and the elementary choir is presenting a concert, con-cert, T hursday night at 7:30. The concert will last about one hour and a half. Here is another item for your files: Suzanne Evans Lefler, a ,1972 Park High : graduate, received 48 hour's of college coll-ege credit when she enrolled enroll-ed at USU by taking and passing the CLEP test. Faculty Meeting Superintendent Richard Goodworth met with Park High faculty last week. Most of the meeting was spent discussing the state and district attendance policies. pol-icies. The program, which involves in-volves students from the high school and the elementary school has lately added some new phases. Students from the elementary school have been paired with students stu-dents from the high school. Each elementary student involved in-volved has either an older high school brother or sister. sis-ter. One hour a week, those high school students involved, involv-ed, are taught a class by Taylor Ylartman. The class rotates the last three periods per-iods of the day and is taught on every Thursday. Taylor teaches the students how to become friends to their younger brother or sister, how to listen to them, how to help them with their problems, prob-lems, how to help the younger young-er kids become more interested inter-ested in school as well as many other things that will help the students relate to each other in a better man-. man-. ner. Group activities and individual indiv-idual activities are in the planning stage. Many high school students have already got together with their younger brother or sister in either small groups or individually in-dividually and have acted in different activities. Some of which are: horseback riding, rid-ing, bowling, movies, basketball, bas-ketball, and dinner at someone's some-one's home. There are about 25 high school students from grades 10, 11 and 12th involved and about 35 students from all the grades in theMarsacEl-. theMarsacEl-. ementary School. Another phase to the program pro-gram is being handled by Harvey McComb. Harvey is going up to the elementary school during third and fourth period of each Friday and teaching the boys from Ms. Nancy Redding"s classes electronics. The younger |
