Show Merchants Submii Plan on Business License Fees The Main Street Merchants Mer-chants Association will submit sub-mit a plan to the City Council . at the next executive session that would increase all business busi-ness license fees to $75 for the initial license, $50 for each additional, and charges an employee head tax of $5 per employee. The merchant's plan is being submitted as an alternative alter-native to the City Council's proposed ordinance that would tax the merchants one half of one percent of gross receipts. The employee head tax would be determined by the number of employees a business has during the peak of the season. According to the proposed plan, individuals who rent property and homes in Park City will also be taxed. There will, however, be exception for realtors, property transfer trans-fer and car sales. There is a possibility that the Merchant's will include in their proposal at $1,000 fine for any business person per-son that did not comply with the ordinance, if adopted. If the fine was not paid, the individual's business license would be revoked. The Merchant's Association Associa-tion is confident their proposal pro-posal will generate the revenue the city is in need of. They will request that any surplus monies acquired from the ordinance be appropriated ap-propriated to the police and fire departments. The Merchant's proposal will be presented to the City Council at the meeting on Thursday, November 21. |
