They have transformed the old attic on the third floor into two rooms the back one a playroom play-room for 7 year old daughter, Jona, and 3 year old son, Travis and their playmates. The front room on the upper floor is being readied for a "studio" for John. He says he likes to "fool around, with stained glass and wants to try his hand at repairing and reproducing it. He really wants to restore other old houses here in Park City as soon as he's finished this one. Nicky is doing all the interior painting and they figure that another three weeks or so should see the house ready for them to move in and enjoy. Dr. Lawrence Raddon from Alhambra, California, was in Park City not too long ago and was more than interested in the old home, as well as all the other changes that have taken place in his old home town since he left it in 1918. We understand that Sam Raddon Rad-don is living in Oregon. Old S. L. Raddon Home in Park Being Restored to Former Beauty THE HOUSE was practically a shell when John and Nicky Price came from southern California a little over a year ago. John had sold his very profitable business there and had some ready cash so purchased pur-chased the Raddon home and decided de-cided to restore it to its former form-er beauty. The windows were out and the walls were collapsing but the Prices began their work. Glass was installed and when it called for stained glass, John put in either antique or had new made to look like old. The bannister and newel post at the head , of the stairs were carefully preserved and some of the lovely wood floors will be PARK CITY is lucky to have people like John and Nicky Price come to town! They are the ones who purchased pur-chased the old Raddon home on Park Avenue. What a house that was before the fire of 1898! Supposedly built around 1890 your reporter was unable to find anyone who knew who built it or exactly when. But after the big fire completely com-pletely destroyed it, it was rebuilt re-built for the owner, S. L. Raddon Rad-don by Pete Anderson, a carpenter car-penter here. It was S. L. Raddon, you will remember, who boughtthePark Record in 1899 withhis brother, W. A. Raddon. MR. RADDON and his wife and children, Sam, Lee and Miriam enjoyed life there in the big house until 1906 when Mrs. Raddon Rad-don passed away. Mrs. Harry Raddon, who was S. L. 's sister in law and always known as Aunt Annie came to the rescue and moved in to help with the children. Some later Mr. Raddon remarried re-married and there were four additional children, Harry, Lawrence, Mary and Eugene. As time went on, some of the family moved away, but Mary Raddon in a second marriage lived for a time in the family home. |
