Three New Double Chair Lifts Await Skiers at Park Resort Three new, high capacity double chairlifts will be waiting for skiers on Park City Resort's ski season opening date now set at either November 13 or 20. The new lifts bring the Resort's number of high capacity lifts to seven for an uphill capacity of over 7,000 skiers per hour, double last season's capacity. The new lifts were installed during the past summer by Ski Lift International, Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and are presently being tested by the lift company. Named Pay Day, Crescent, and Lost Prospector, each of the new lifts is capable of loading 1,200 skiers per hour and will, with the gondola, Three Kings, Thaynes and Prospector lifts, effectively reduce or eliminate lift lines this season. Skiers will now be offered a new way up the mountain from the Resort Center on the new 1 17 mile long Pay Day double chairlift. Originating west of the Resort Center, the lift passes under the gondola line and terminates at the top of the Pay Day run. From the top of the Pay Day chair, skiers may ski Pay Day, Nail Driver, Widow Maker, Blanche or Dividend runs. Dividend run takes the skier to the base terminal of the Crescent double chairlift. Crescent lift originates at the base of the Silver King mine dump in Treasure Hollow and extends to a point on King Con ridge. From the top of Crescent lift, skiers have several runs to choose from including: Silver Skis, Shaft, new runs leading west to Claim Jumper, a new run directly under the lift, or a run along King Con ridge to the Resort's steepest slope, Temptation, which leads the skier back to the Resort Center via Silver Hollow. The third new lift is Lost Prospector. Running roughly parallel to the existing Prospector lift, Lost Prospector serves several new runs cut during the past summer as well as Pros-Dector, Pros-Dector, Meadow, Claim Jumper and Hidden Splendor runs. The new lift is seperated from Prospector lift on :much of its course by stands of Aspen and pine trees. In addition to reducing or eliminating lift lines during the coming ski season, the new double chairlifts will open both new terrain and runs that have always been available but not readily accessable (Pay Day, Dividend, Widow Maker, Nail Driver, Shaft, Silver Skis) and will create entirely new patterns of skiing at Park City Resort.
