Show high school alumni homecoming a success last friday february the graduates 0 of park city 1 high I school from the first C class ass ot of 1902 to the last class 0 1931 1 returned ed en masse to visit their alma I 1 mater from the 0 opening p e ning ot of school in the morning until t the h e close ol of the senior hop at midnight homecoming day was distinctly graduates day one loi loio o to be cherished as worth while both t 0 3 t the he P present high school population and to 10 t tho he alomal 1 while this Is the infant a attempt on the part ot of graduates al ai sc BC 01 ol officials it proved so successful ci M I 1 trial that it bids fair to sti ad annual custom everywhere in class rooms lab laboratories library assembly and gymnasium the old grads were given a hearty felcone wel cone and made to feel that the school was net only pleased but honored to receive theiu by invitation n ot of alumni parents torm stu students dents who were not graduates and I 1 te rested friends joined with the graduates to made up the large group vi 01 visitors present there were wera about in ii all immediately upon arrival in the main corridor ot of the high school building visitors were greeted by school officers ard and members ot of the alumni arrange arrangement menti committee provision was made tor for registration gi ot of all A large black board copy of the schedule ot of classes was placed in a conspicuous place in the main corridor lor for the special convenience ot of the visitors guides chosen from the upper high school classes were on duty to pilot visitors about and to assist them to fled find the rooms where they desired to go AT af I 1 any time during the day ot of especial interest to former students was a hurried collection of pictures ot of former graduating classes varied activities tivi ties of bygone by gone years and individuals is who had bad previously claimed park high as their alms alma mater in addition to pictures there were copies of old st udert papers annuals and the like some of 0 these bore dates as remote as 1899 thesa I 1 pictures and other souvenirs were hung in the main hall in the near r vicinity of 0 the main entrances A football loot ball dummy clothed in roughneck rough neck attire of the gay nineties stood sentinel opposite the study hall door A varied collection ot of old tim pennants added further interest and variety to this antique exhibit visitors appeared as interested in viewing these thes e oli oil reminders as in shaking hands with each other or visiting the classes in session at the regular friday seventh period assembly time the alumni gave students ta faculty culty and visitors a real treat by furnishing the entire assembly program students and non graduate visitors were seated in regular order by principal smith A special section ot of seats in the south front to which alumni were escorted had been specially reserved in their honor after the assembly was in order superintendent in alston in a few appropriate words explained the purpose of the days activities expressed ex presse d ills his delight and that 0 of f the entire school at having the former graduates and friends as guests of 01 the high school and expressed the hope that the alumni association would make homecoming day an annual affair he stated state A that ta in his experience with student bodies and graduates he had bad never witnessed as fine and loyal spirit to the mother school aspre as prevails valls among graduates of the park city high school the superintendent introduced mr james cunningham class of 1925 president of the alumni association mr cunningham in thanked n ed the faculty and students tor for the cordial manner iii 11 continued on page eight I 1 high school alumni homecoming a success continued from page one which the graduates and their friends had been received during the day and for the many courtesies shown them lie he was much impressed with the bucce success a of the first homecoming home coming venture and with the apparent good feeling between betseen alumni school officers and undergraduates that seemed to characterize the activities of the day he expressed the hops hope that the alumni would carry on and make of homecoming home coming day e a worthwhile annual tradition president cunningham in produced trod as master of ceremonies george barben class of 1925 and student body president during the year 1924 25 to mr air barben Is due much of the credit for promoting and bringing to a successful realization the first alumni homecoming day from this point until the close of the program the master of ceremonies kept kep t things moving in fine style an and it the audience in a jovial mood mrs jeanette H cunningham 1017 1917 gave a charming history of the high school from its foundation lound atlon to the present many of the items were new to the audience the suggestion was made that a history be collected of all former classes and filed bled in the school office to be added upon each year miss betty sheen 1930 accompanied by miss gladys pletcher fletcher 1930 rendered two beautiful vocal solos james gw iiams imams 1931 accompanied by mrs smith entertained with tap dances wllbur wilbur brooks 1 1922 was cheered to the echo as he re rendered several vocal solos in bis Is old time style he was accompanied compa nied by mrs fletcher the next graduate to entertain the assembly was as john pike 1931 john did himself proud as ot of yore with bis big violin he was accompanied by mrs smith next in order were vocal duets ducts by MI MIs alss s grace paxton and miss utahna burbidge J both of laulee th the class ot of 1930 accompanied by miss louise burbidge one selection cant we be the same Scho sweethearts hearts s was especially appropriate to the cc c ceilon calon interspersed between the regular pro I 1 gram numbers were so many jokes fura uns a and d stories by the tee announcer that s speeches aches ot of a formal character were ui unnecessary I 1 A saxophone duet was V rendered by elwin stevens and theodore johbson I both ot of the class 0 1031 miss teressa bettit also or of the class ot of 1931 accod razed The theodocie was president of the student body during his senior year I 1 mrs airs deal jennings hartwell class ot of 1913 accod accompanied panted by mrs airs francis maedonald macdonald henderson 1927 rendered render ad two pleasing vocal solos mrs lim hartcell Kar Hart twell vell mentioned the tact fact th tt she had taught the i witty master ot of ceremonies when george was in the park city elementary schools i president jinx jim cunningham cuningham convulsed the t he audience with renditions re ot of who wh i threw the overalls in mrs murphy Murp hys c howder how dor and other
