Show A REAL BONEHEAD ft is not very often that we consider it our business to pan anyone, and we certainly do not relish "getting on" individuals for acts that they do. However, an incident happened at the Sunday Sun-day game which was absolutely inexcusable from any standpoint and one that should never under any circumstances happen again. The game was between Magna iind Arthur. The score was close and a hit meant a victory. Warren, War-ren, Arthur outfielder, was at bat r.nd struck out. Whereupon he threw his bat over the bleacher 'enee and inlo the closely packed rowd of people near the grandstand. grand-stand. Luckily the bat missed the ;cpple and fell to the ground i viithout injuring anyone. j This incident was the most de- j :;ieable one we have ever witness- j d in the Copper League. Ujnpiire ; -canlon should be commended for ! cutting Warren out, of the ball -;v.ne. - I Tho thrown bats could easily ; iae killed a baby or child or ;ven au adult in the closely pack-' d croud and it was a miracle hat it did not hit anyone. i As great a sport as baseball is ! nd as much enjoyment that is j erived from it by players and j pectators it is most certainly not ' vorth ihe toleration of acts like his one. If players and speeta-Lurs speeta-Lurs cannot be as big as the game ;n sportsmanship, it is better tha. we do not have baseball. |
