| Show Explorer Scouts The Explorer Post of Orchard Orchard Or- Or chard 2nd ward Post Is going to pass the hiking merit badge as a group Requirements Requirements Re- Re for this badge include Include In- In clude five ten mile hikes and andone andone one mile 20 hike THE FIRST ten mile hike was taken on Sept 24 leaving the ward chapel at G 6 am a.m. up to the north ridge of City Creek straight up the mountain and then down to Memory Grove where Mrs l Chase drove seven tired troops back home Durin During this trip Rick Bangerter Bangerter Bang Bang- erter and Paul brock were nonchalantly pluckIng plucking pluck pluck- Ing snails from stinging nettle Also in this group were Gilbert Pond PhillIp Adams Doug Pearson Lee Kolts and Mr Chase THE 20 MILE hike the longest longest long long- est of the required hikes was taken on oct 1 1 Leaving Leavin the ward at 5 am a.m. and driving to the guard station just above Mutual Mutual Mu- Mu Dell In the group then hiked to the top of Timp and when they got there they felt how they were already frozen they decided to slide down the glacier This activity exposed some good Bountiful flesh when two fellows ripped the seat ot of their pants out Once down the glacier gla- gla cler cier they hiked down do to Aspen Grove This was 15 miles and the car was still 6 2 1 miles away This last was the longest long est THREE Explorer roundtable training sessions are being held during the month of November with the opportunity for Explorers ers and their fathers and adult boy leaders to learn about the Exploring program and what ExPlorers do ml |
