Show EDUCATION BOARD PASSES SENTENCE ON THEM apologies all round and promises to abstain from inflicting indignities in future demanded the board of education held a meeting in their rooms at eight last evening for the purpose of determan ing on the mode of punishment to be meted out for the high school boys who participated la the recent hazing by the use of nitrate of silver tt the midyear mid year freshmen the board examined a large number of witnesses in connection with the affair at a meeting held on saturday evening and had evidence produced to show that the liquid used to discolor the faces of the freshmen was nothing that would cause permanent injury and this fact had much to do with the punishment decided at last session when the session was called to order by judge dee B W and his son don appeared beffie the board and young related all that he knew in connection with the hazing this was done at his fathers solicitation so that the board might not labor under any misrepresentations as to the part that the lad played in the matter professor thomas then stated that he had the confessions of seventeen ot the boys who participated in the affair and the members of the board folt that they had all the evidence that axa necessary and held an executive session to determine what punishment would be best to stop that kind of work in the future after a lengthy discussion behdad closed doors the board decided that each of the pupils implicated in the matter must state in writing first that he was BO implicated second that he apologize to the board of education the faculty of the high school and to the boys that were submitted to the hazing third that they agree that in future they will refrain from again any incoming freshmen and abstaining from any indignities to tha freshmen who took part lu the investigation of the board that this Is to apply to all of thoe member of the school whose names were submitted by the principal aad that each of pupils will stand suspended until they comply with these requirements the matter of what part professor blakeslee played in the affair in ahe way of giving the chemicals to the boys knowing the burpoe or which it would be used was referred to tho president of the board judge dee as a committee of on to act on the matter |
