Show REGISTERS A KICK well known mining man thinks there should be better transportation facilities A well known mining man made the following kick to a standard reporter in an interview today in tecc days of heavy railroad travel strangers coming to ogden should be accorded every facility for forming a favorable impression of ogden when they can see our city at this season it is beautiful and looks prosperous but let one come in on a belated night train and how woeful and one horse we seem one night recently a couple of our citizens came home on a delayed train reaching ogden at about one there was neither gurney hack nor street car in sight A call at the telephone in the union depot failed to raise the sleepy or absent man at the cab office at the hotel was a solitary poli tary back out on orders and at the corner of grant and twenty fifth a hack team stood at the curb but a whole of passengers many of them waiting conveyances up town and not so much as a spring wagon to meet them think what an impression such a lack of one of the commonest necessities of modern travel must make upon the mind of a stranger why the most common scrub town in the country would not bo found in such a condition one would suppose that belt interest would cause this matter to be remedied but it is said to be of too frequent occurrence if private enterprise is not equal to furnishing transportation in such cases the council should try its hand at regulation ula tion or annul some of the charters and licenses granted and let them next time to someone who will accommodate the public |
