Show WE'RE NUTTY -- We were told once, that to be the editor of a weekly newspaper, and to edit it correctly, so that people appreciated your efforts, a person had to be as close to being a nut as a human being can be without being taken to the home for the feeble minded. When we first heard this remark we resented re-sented it, and decided to write an editorial about our advisor, but after trying try-ing to run the Press-Bulletin for the past eleven months, we find that our friend told the truth, only he didn't go quite far enough. , ' Now we have another bee in our bonnet, and this time it is in the form of organizing a little Chamber of Commerce of our own. Nutty, isn't it? We won't play unless we can be the president, the Board of Directors, and the Secretary. We want to do all the letter writing to the merchants and people of the camp, and we want to get out all the propaganda pertaining to .. our little Chamber of Commerce. . " Being that we are nutty, no one will agree with us, unless there are a few other nuts located up and down Main street, but this is our plan.' WE WANT EVERY ONE TO ADOPT OUR SLOGAN: TRY BINGHAM CANYON FIRST. WE WANT EVERY ADVERTISER TO PUT THIS SLOGAN IN HIS ADVERTISING, WE WANT EVERY PERSON IN THE CAMP OVER THE AGE OF 21 TO HANG IT UP ON THE WALLS OF HIS MEMORY, AND WHEN HE FIGURES ON SPENDING A WHOLE DAY SHOPPING IN SALT LAKE CITY. AT A PROFIT OF 13c PLUS THE EXPENDITURE OF FIFTY CENTS FOR GAS AND OIL, TO TURN TO HIS MEMORY, AND "TRY BINGHAM CANYON FIRST." We want all the school children of the camp, to adopt a new yell: "TRY BINGHAM CANYON FIRST, IT'S BOUND TO BE BETTER, AND IT CAN'T BE WORST." Now you have the plan of our new Chamber of Commerce, nutty a we admit ve are, we hope that everyone in the tamp becomes an honorary member of the organization. I'll say that we are nutty, because we nearly forgot to tell you how to become an honorary member. You need to do but one thing to be among-the among-the town's elite; a member of our Chamber of Commerce WHEN YOU FEEL THAT YOU SHOULD BUY ELSEWHERE. "TRY BINGHAM CANYON FIRST," and then you are a full fledged member. Kofi to it, and it does, not cost a cent. |
