WORK ON DIG STREET PAVING EXTENSION Salt Lake, Aug. 25 Work on the largest street paving extension In the history of Salt Lake city was begun be-gun Wednesday morning hy Contractor Contrac-tor P. J. Moran, when his crew s'art-ed s'art-ed on the paving of Second We.st street from Th rd South to the Warm Springs. For several Jays the waterworks water-works department of the city has had men at work lowering the water service ser-vice pipes along Ihst street in preparation prep-aration for the paving. On Wedueslay morning the steam shovel started In on the work of excavating ex-cavating at First North and Second West, and Is working northward from that point. Alout fifty teams are kept busy hauling away the dirt dug out by the Vhovel and the street pre-Pfn's pre-Pfn's a very busy scene. The Utah Light & Kallwav company has Its men at work taking up the tracks, which wfll have to be lowered. The contract Involves about $191.-OiiO $191.-OiiO and Includes a mile and a halt of street Mr. Moran has one year within which to complete the Job. and |
