Show IiJ8Sii Balllnger Seeks (o Secure Se-cure Uniform System of Regulation San Francisco, August 25. Secretary Secre-tary of the Interior Richard A. Balllnger Bal-llnger returned to this city yesterday after a foqr days' inspection --trip to 1 the Yosemite valley. After spending j a few hours here he departed for his home in Seattle. In a statement to the press he said that he was planning plan-ning to secure a uniform system of laws and regulations for the fourteen national paiKa now in the possession of the United States. - Referring to tho recent destructive forest fires. Secretary Balllnger said: "Wc may find it necessary to revert to the old Indian method of burning over tho forests nnnually at seasonable season-able periods. One thing we Intend making every effort to do is to com pel loggers to clean 1- The litter which has been loft In many places has Increased the destructlvcness of forest fires enormously." He expressed himself as shocked by the vandalism with which some of the big trees of the Yosemite had been treated aud in this connection he ordered or-dered that a fence be erected about the "Grizzly Giant."
